During the summer of 2025, Steelgate sponsored eight students ranging in education level from recent high school graduate to postgraduate students. Affiliated schools included University of South Carolina – Aiken (2), Augusta University (3), Augusta Technical College (2), and The Citadel (1).

Steelgate,LLC Internship provided experience into the DevSecOps process with a focus on an automated ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana) stack containerized deployment, multiple Logstash ingest pipelines, and server hardware deployment and configuration while providing training opportunities on linux administration fundamentals, Elastic components, code management processes within gitlab and github, and basic SOC processes.

Steelgate employees provided mentorship support the internship by providing guidance and troubleshooting assistance throughout the various projects.  This resulted in a successful team development project of an automated deployment of an ELK stack from a centrally managed Gitlab repository maintained on Steelgate internal infrastructure.

Beyond the technical responsibilities and training sessions, soft skills were enhanced through interviewing and weekly performance reviews, weekly written reports, and an end of session final report with presentation.
