Cary Rook, Vice President of Engineering

A 39+ year combined career as an Army Veteran, Department of the Army Senior Civilian and Industry Partner. Cary began his career as a Communications Security Equipment repairman with assignments to Ft. Huachuca, AZ and then Camp Zama Japan. In Japan Cary was recruited and selected to join the White House Communications Agency (WHCA) where he provided secure voice and data communications to the President, Vice President and Senior Staff. During his 6 years at WHCA he also became a Presidential Communications Officer where he traveled with the President, Vice President and Senior Staff providing secure voice and data communications everywhere they traveled. While active-duty Cary also deployed as a Network and Engineering Chief Warrant Officer in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and provided humanitarian support to the City of New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrinia.

After retiring from the Army in 2006 Cary joined industry to work at the Ft. Gordon Battle Lab as the base band lead where he led a team of engineers that built the very first Regional Hub Node for Training allowing the Soldier in the field immediate access to satellite, voice and data services worldwide. Cary was then recruited for a Senior Civilian role during the stand up of the 7th Signal Command Theater, becoming the Network and Engineering Branch Chief responsible for engineering requirements for all Army installations in the Continental United States (CONUS) including engineering efforts for Base Realign and Closure, Army Material Command Bandwidth Optimization, MEDCOM VoIP concept of Operations, and CONUS Modernization. Cary rejoined industry as a Senior Director at NES which was ultimately acquired by GDIT then a few years at Peraton where he provided engineering support and program management for projects ranging from network modernization efforts in Germany to Technical Control Facility moves as well as bidding and winning multiple contracts including Global Transport Enterprise Services and Army Voice Modernization.

Cary joined SteelGate in 2023 as Vice President of Engineering where he manages multiple programs across the Globe providing C4, engineering and IT services to DoD, Army, Combatant Commands and the Special Operations Community while simultaneously providing the design and development of engineering solutions for ongoing projects and proposals.

Cary is from White House Forks, Alabama, married with one child. Outside the office, Cary enjoys the outdoors working on his horse farm, fishing and hunting. He has a Bachelor of Science in Management and is PMP Certified.
